Synopsis
Two friends on their way home. They stop and camp out for the night, waiting. The following morning one of them is missing with no explanation. And then the searching: for meaning without a past, for truth when desires confuse memories, for a beginning that makes sense for a now, and for freedom from the self. "Sometimes I forget that I am not you and you are not me".

More Information:
This film works as a poem; a simple one: two people, who they are and are not, how they relate to each other and how this changes over time. It is likewise a film about obsession and desire, how this can project and fabricate memories, as if that person were never there, just some ghost like figure, an open signifier to force all one’s desires into.
In order to best explore these abstract themes and confusion of memory with desire, a friend of ours, Prateek Rajbhandari, constructed a device that would allow us to shoot with up to four cameras simultaneously. Thus, the film is shot with high definition, standard definition and super 8 cameras in the backwoods of Alaska.

		<description>While studying in Havana, Cuba over the course of three months I completed a short experimental narrative film entitled: My Legs Crossed.

“Within the revolution, all; outside of the revolution, nothing” -Fidel Castro

Dulce María Loynaz (1903 -1997)
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/dulce maria (1 of 2).jpg" width="670" height="1005" width_o="2048" height_o="3072" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/dulce maria (1 of 2)_o.jpg" data-mid="10033477" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/dulce maria (2 of 2).jpg" width="670" height="1004" width_o="2048" height_o="3071" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/dulce maria (2 of 2)_o.jpg" data-mid="10033533" border="0" align="left"/&#62; “I am Cuba.” She pauses then adds “Don’t misspell it though you already have”. Writing this now I stop, I can’t remember her face. She’s “A flight of blazing humming birds”, a shapeless shimmer filling space. She spreads herself unto the roman arches and crushed chandeliers and dirt until she is nothing. That’s when it fully dawns on me. I’ve just seen a ghost.

Alejo Carpentier (1904 - 1980)
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/alejo carpentier (11 of 1).jpg" width="670" height="971" width_o="2048" height_o="2969" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/alejo carpentier (11 of 1)_o.jpg" data-mid="10056380"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/alejo carpentier (1 of 1).jpg" width="670" height="971" width_o="2048" height_o="2969" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/alejo carpentier (1 of 1)_o.jpg" data-mid="10056332"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
 I know there’s a portly house that has everything within it. There’s the kitchen where a thousand books lay open, “our style is reaffirmed throughout our history”. But I can't find it.

José Lezama Lima (1910-1976)
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/light flare (1 of 2).jpg" width="670" height="1005" width_o="1981" height_o="2972" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/light flare (1 of 2)_o.jpg" data-mid="10033551"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/light flare (2 of 2).jpg" width="670" height="1004" width_o="2048" height_o="3072" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/light flare (2 of 2)_o.jpg" data-mid="10033589"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;Facing down I see people looking up fragmented through waves like they are falling apart.

Reinaldo Arenas (1943-1990)
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/the kingdom of this worls (1 of 1)_6.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/the kingdom of this worls (1 of 1)_6_o.jpg" data-mid="10033828" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/the kingdom of this worls (1 of 1)_1.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/2018356/the kingdom of this worls (1 of 1)_1_o.jpg" data-mid="10033797" border="0" align="left"/&#62;I find him on the ground or what’s left of him. His clothes are gone. There are stitches everywhere. I can make out bits of his body hastily sowed together now ripped apart. The lighthouse shines and shows me his mouth, “history killed me don’t believe it was suicide.”

		<description>Fall 2010/ Spring 2011
As well as making the film There Is Wind That Blew for my Division III thesis work, I produced a gallery show revolving around subjects explored in the film. I shared the gallery with three other friends and together we organized an opening night celebration complete with a photo booth and public reading. Over 200 people attended.

This is the text that was included with the show:

His hands will always be intimate,
separated from what the shadow holds
and love is a little less then everything.

"this film was designed as an attempt to actively forget a period of time in my life and ends today with an act of giving in and letting stay."
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/1975279/Carl-s Poster copy.jpg" width="670" height="469" width_o="1500" height_o="1050" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/4/147462/1975279/Carl-s Poster copy_o.jpg" data-mid="9805868"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
Synopsis:
 Two parents insert themselves into their son's diary and assume several roles until the diary realizes their presence. As the passages fall apart and the son violently tries to get rid of his parents, a film crew appears-framing specifics-searching for concrete answers to an echoing repression. There is Wind That Blows explores the relationship between closeted repression, film making, narrative representation, family history and agency.

More Information:
I produced, directed and acted in a thirty minute experimental narrative film looking into my personal history and fluid relationship to repression. The film stars my parents, my friends from high school, and the house I grew up in all in their relative roles as an attempt to explore the beautiful and churning silence I have known my whole life.
